1. What is the denotative and connotative meaning of ULAB's Logo?

Denotation: It refers the common meaning of a sign.

Connotation: It refers the meaning which comes from cultural values, emotional attachment and ideologies.

Denotative and connotative meaning of ULAB's Logo

Denotative meaning of the logo is that the logo is the symbol of ULAB. There is an anchoring which ensures the logo. This logo is identity of ULAB.
Connotative meaning of ULAB's logo can indicate many things. The name of “UNIVERSITY OF LIBERAL ARTS BANGLADESH” is written in two languages 1. English and 2. Bengali. As English is the medium of study in ULAB and Bengali is our mother tongue and in dark black color which ensures the strength. White colored pen nib indicates that peaceful environment of education, world wide knowledge and empowering the students. Yellow circle around the pen is indicating bright future of student and liberal education. Light blue color indicates vast area of knowledge. The text is above yellow bordering indicates faith, power and dedication. ULAB’s logo indicates that we will be the powerful competitors in the job sector and such a human being.

Assignment

1. What do I think this course is about?

I think that this course is about the different media language, texts and semiotics.
This course has few great things, for which I will be able to know myself better and what is happening in the rest of the world. I also think this course is about learning new thing like blogging and my learning and engagement style. I was informed at the very first class of the course we will watch few movies and I hope that we will be informed about the reality of world and mass media through watching movies. This course is also about many contemporary issues like media and reality, knowledge and power, hegemony, colonialism and post-colonialism. I can understand another thing is that we will learn how to behave in different place with different people. I think that this course will make me learn that think independently and read texts critically.

2. What do I want to get from this course?

I have already learned few things like how to make blog and publish it. I want to get more new things what I have never learned before. I want to know about new technologies and media portals from this course. This course will give me the right way to prepare myself for the future as a contestant in the comparative world.
